John McKenzie is the former chief medical correspondent for ABC News.
He has covered many of the controversies in medicine, from stem cell research to screening for breast and prostate cancer. His work has highlighted the spread of infectious diseases such as swine flu and SARS, the risks of clinical trials, and the misleading health claims of many food companies.
McKenzie's prior reports for the network included a variety of domestic and international stories. During his three years as a foreign correspondent, he worked for months at a time from bureaus in London, Warsaw, Moscow, Beirut and Tokyo.
In addition to appearing regularly on World News Tonight, he provided reports for Nightline and 20/20. He was also a substitute anchor (presenter) for World News This Morning and the news segments of Good Morning America.
A native of Montreal, McKenzie holds Canadian and American citizenship. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Indiana University and a Master in Public Administration degree from Harvard University.
